“Simba is a gorgeous rabbit!”. That’s how the ACDC Rabbit Director describes me. She apologizes that she couldn’t get better pictures. She tried for a half-hour using different lighting, backgrounds, etc. She took 45 pictures and none of them capture my unique characteristics. I was so patient during my photo shoot.
I’m a Lionhead rabbit which is a relatively new (1999) breed of domesticated rabbits.
We have a mane of wool around our heads so we look very much like a male African lion. We have normal fur on the rest of our bodies.
I have silky black fur and my “mane” is rather full and silvery black. Unlike large, scary lions, I’m a tiny (3 lbs.) very gentle bunny boy.
Lionhead rabbits tend to be very friendly, easy to train and make excellent pets. They also enjoy attention. That’s me! I don’t even mind being held for short periods of time.
I was an impulse pet store purchase. After awhile, my owners realized they didn’t want the responsibility of pet ownership. They posted me for free on a social networking site. A good Samaritan saw me and knew that since I was advertised for free, and that I was small, there was a very good chance someone would take me and use me for snake food. Sadly, this happens a lot when small rabbits are given away for free. Lucky for me the Samaritan was able to convince my owners to turn me over to ACDC.
I’m in a great foster home. You should make an appointment to see how “cool” I look. I’d love to meet you.
