Hope is a great reason why rabbits shouldn’t be purchased as presents for children. Hope was an “Easter bunny” purchased for a child. When the “fun” of having an “Easter bunny” wore off and the family moved from their apartment, they left Hope behind. Five days passed before one of the apartment tenants called ACDC and we were able to rescue her.
Hope was left in a dirty laundry room. The Rabbit Director practically tripped over the empty liquor bottles and bags of trash to get to Hope. There she was, in a small cage without food or water.
Hope was near death and was close to being “put down”. Her heartbeat was low, she was dehydrated and as you can see, she had a severe case of head tilt. There are several possible causes of head tilt including trauma and an inner ear infection (left untreated).
Hope is now being treated by the wonderful staff at Stoney Creek Veterinary Hospital. They say Hope “is a fighter”. Hope is getting better. She is still on several medications but her head tilt has improved. Hope is making great progress. Hope loves people and races around her pen when she has visitors she’s so excited to have company. She has a hearty appetite too. Hope is a happy bunny and is not letting the head tilt get her down.
As you can imagine, Hope’s vet visits and medications are expensive. Please support Hope and ACDC by making a donation. This dear little bunny girl will be so glad you did.
